Filmul spune povestea lui Silviu (George Pistereanu), care dupa patru ani petrecuti intr-un penitenciar pe malul Dunarii, a avansat in ierarhia de dormitor, devenind Jupan. Cu doua saptamani inainte de eliberare, primeste o vizita neasteptata. El afla ca mama lui s-a intors acasa dupa mult timp din Italia si vrea sa il ia pe fratele lui mai mic. Silviu are cinci zile sa gaseasca o solutie. Cele cinci zile devin o eternitate cand Silviu se indragosteste de o studenta la Sociologie, Ana (Ada Condeescu), venita in practica la penitenciar.
